My Story
Bathed in the soulful sounds that define the alt-folk genre he excels within, Perth Hills-born singer/songwriter Michael Day inspires listeners to ask questions about the world, reflect on personal struggles and consider what is really important in life. His indie folk rock-flavoured music melts around you as you listen to moody soundscapes full of cleverly layered guitar and banjo melodies, driving rhythms and soulful harmonies.
Lovers of alternative folk-styled music, who enjoy reclining to introspective music, should expect the occasional mental spiral touching on existentialism and depression, while intertwined with a subtle harmonious hope of joy. Day’s music, while stirring questions of the listener, also strikes the heart with emotive guitar and synth lines reflecting musically the longing for peace and hope in hard times.
A musician since a young age, Day crafted his enveloping musical style after years spent listening to leaders of the indie genre, including the likes of Mumford and Sons, Angus & Julia Stone, and The Lumineers. Honing this craft, placed Day as a semi-finalist in the 2023 International Songwriting Contest.
After a few additions to the band in 2023, Day is Backed by musical comrades Rhyan Lyndon-James, Lucas Jones, Mitch Tinsley, and Dave Rajendram. Their sights are set for 2024 to be the band's biggest year of releasing music to date, looking forward to the release of their next single ‘Nan and Pop’s House’, which was recorded and mixed by Andy Lawson and mastered by Grammy Award-winning King Willy.
With the world, since 2020, feeling more and more tumultuous, Day hopes his music would comfort his listeners, acknowledging the hard times while holding onto the slither of hope with all of one's being.
